Vietnam, Cambodia Boosting Health Cooperation
A delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health led by its head Nguyen Quoc Trieu is in week-long visit to Cambodia ended today [Aug 5] at the invitation of his counterpart Mam Bunheng to boost heath cooperation, the Voice of Vietnam Radio said Aug 3. During their talks in Phnom Penh on Aug 1, the two ministers focused on border quarantine, control of epidemics and humanitarian medical care. The two sides reviewed implementation of the border quarantine agreement which was signed on Mar 3, 2006 to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in border localities. The host minister thanked to Vietnam’s health centers, especially those along the border, for providing medical checks and treatment to Cambodians, including senior Cambodian officials. The two countries agreed to facilitate the implementation of the Cho Ray-Phnom Penh hospital project, considered the construction of an eye hospital in Phnom Penh and sought measures for disease prevention. Ho Chi Minh City’s Medicine and Pharmacy University and Odonto-Maxilo-Facial Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with Cambodia’s University of Medicine and the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on the occasion. The Vietnamese delegation also met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, toured Royal Military Hospital, Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital, and University of Medicine.
