U.S. to Hold Conferences on Environment Solutions in Vietnam in May
The American Telecommunication Certification Body (ATCB) said in a statement last week that a number of U.S. agencies and companies will work with Vietnamese partners to hold conferences on environment solutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities in May. The events are aimed at showcasing models, technologies and applications from the U.S. environmental industry, which will benefit Vietnam’s economic development goals, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said. The American Council of Independent Laboratories, the Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership, the Washington Laboratories, the American Telecommunication Certification Body, the I.M. Systems Group, the Columbia Analytical Services Inc., the Whiteford Taylor Preston company, the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands and the Vietnam Directorate for Standards and Quality will join hands to organize the events.
The World Bank (WB) estimates that Vietnam needs about $2.5 billion a year to solve issues relating to environmental pollution due to high-speed industrialization, according to the ATCB.
With a 3,000 km-long coastline, Vietnam is one of countries in the world facing the risk of rising sea levels.
