U.S. to Help Vietnam Cope with Climate Change, Human Trafficking
The U.S. government will assist Vietnam’s Mekong Delta provinces, especially Kien Giang province in combating climate change and human trafficking, U.S. Consulate General Deputy Principal Officer Angela Dickey to Ho Chi Minh City said at a meeting with the provincial leaders April 1. Angela Dickey appreciated the province’s economic achievements and said her agency is working with the Can Tho University to set up a center to study climate change, the Communist Party of Vietnam said on its website April 2. “Trafficking of women and children has become a major concern of the U.S. government and its non-governmental organizations. We will soon develop the community support programs to prevent the practices from Vietnam to Cambodia, China and other countries,” Angela Dickey noted. She also revealed her plans to introduce to American businesses, including overseas Vietnamese firms to seek investment opportunities in Kien Giang in the coming months.
