U.S. Funds $107,766 for Establishment of Mine Risk Team in Central Vietnam
The U.S.’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded $107,766 for the Peace Trees Vietnam to set up ethnic minority mobile mine risk education team in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri between 2008 and 2009. This was considered a model to educate and improve awareness of mine risk for ethnic minority people in the locality, the Khuyen Hoc & Dan Tri said July 26. Vietnam needs more than $10 billion and take up to 300 years to clear up bombs and mines left from the war, said a representative of the Technology Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal (BOMICEN).
