The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S.-based East Meets West Foundation (EMW) have funded over VND15 billion ($789,000) to build a preschool in Vietnam’s central highlands province of Kom Tum. This is one of 26 preschools to be built in the country by the EMW from now to 2012, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported Aug 12, giving no detail about construction schedule of the project. The facility will provide better education environment for local students, an official from USAID said, adding that it will boost bilateral relations between the countries. East Meets West Foundation, found in 1988, is a non-profit charitable organization in Vietnam, which describes itself as “the foundation for learning, healing and health.”
