The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Planning and Investment Mar 31 co-held a conference on building Vietnam’s socio-economic strategy for 2011-2020. The UNDP has announced the results of its studies on socio-economic issues in Vietnam at the event, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported Apr 1. Foreign experts recommended Vietnam authorities should focus on sharpening the competitiveness of businesses as the Southeast Asian country will completely integrate into the regional economy in the next ten years. Enterprises particularly private ones should be well preparative to take the initiative in attending the global production network, an EU official said at the conference. The UN studies also provided forecasts on the labor market, employment and urbanization in Vietnam by 2020.
