U.K., Sweden Help Vietnam Improve Business Transparency

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) launched a $500,000 project funded by the British and Swedish embassies in Vietnam to increase transparency in the local business environment, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported Jan. 28. Nguyen Quang Vinh, deputy director of the VCCI’s Office for Sustainable Business Development, said the project aims to build consistent administrative standards and raise local firms’ awareness of the business transparency importance in order to fight against corruption. Asian Pacific Director of the International Business Leaders Forum Peter Brew said the project was the first national program in Vietnam designed to mobilize all enterprises, organizations and agencies across the country in building the integrity and transparency. At the launching ceremony, participants pledged to sharing experiences and helping the business community to tackle difficulties in enhancing the business transparency.
