Third of Vietnam Urban Areas Access Tap Water

Only one-third of 600 urban areas in Vietnam have gained access to tap water, the Saigon Giai phong newspaper reported March 9, citing the Ministry of Construction. Urban services providers failed to meet the rising demands of residents and the quality of the services remains different among areas, the ministry added. Two fifths of 300 water supply plants in the areas exploited surface water sources with a daily combined capacity of 3.5 million cu.m while three fifths used underground water with a daily capacity of two million cu.m.
