Singapore NGO Pledges $721,435 for Vietnam Environment Project

Lien Aid, a Singaporean non-governmental organization (NGO), has pledged SGD1 million ($721,435) for a clean water and environmental sanitation project in Vietnam’s rural areas. Officials from Lien Aid and Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development signed an agreement on the aid last weekend, the Nong nghiep Viet Nam newspaper reported June 23.  The project, which is expected to implement in the 2010-2014 period, is aimed to improve clean water and sanitation conditions for rural residents living in flooded and salt intruded areas.  Set up in 2006, Lien Aid is a partnership between the Lien Foundation and Nanyang Technological University to advance the provision of clean water and sanitation for the benefit of communities in Asia.
