Norad Funds $8M for Solid Waste Treatment Center in Northern Vietnam

The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) has funded $8 million for a project to build a solid waste treatment center in Vietnam’s northern city of Son La, the government said on its website late June 16. Norad and Son La leaders signed an agreement on the aid during a Norway visit by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai between June 12-16. Once in place in 2013, the facility will convert organic waste into microorganism fertilizers for agriculture production with an aim to reduce environment pollution. Vietnam will spend VND44 trillion on treating solid waste in urban areas from now up to 2015, the Ministry of Construction said.
