Netherlands to Fund EUR18M for Vietnam Tertiary Education

The Dutch government will fund EUR18 million for Vietnam to improve the national post-graduate and tertiary education quality in the next four years, the Vietnam News Agency said Feb. 10. The agreement to this effect was signed between Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam Lan Joop Scheffers and Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Bich Dat in Hanoi on Feb. 9.  The Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Development in Higher Education (NICHE) will help to provide teaching materials and methodologies for Vietnamese universities, focusing on agriculture, integrated water resource management and climate change that are the Netherlands’ strength. The Dutch government has also pledged to offer further support for Vietnamese students and boost cooperation between the two-side universities. NICHE is part of a broader cooperation program between the Netherlands and Vietnam in the field of higher education.
