JICA Will Help Vietnam Hospital Improve Medical Rehabilitation Services

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide technical assistance to a project to help Vietnam’s Cho Ray Hospital improve medical rehabilitation services from now up to 2013. The JICA and the hospital yesterday signed an agreement on the aid in Ho Chi Minh City on March 1, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said March 2. Under the agreement, the JICA will help the Cho Ray Hospital improve its rehabilitation services for brain injuries and cerebrovascular accidents and transfer techniques to other hospitals in southern Vietnam. The project will develop a handbook on rehabilitation for patients and their families guiding continued rehabilitation after being discharged from hospital.  Only 10% of cerebrosvacular accidents and head trauma patient receive rehabilitation treatment because one rehabilitation therapist is in charge of 108 beds, according to a recent survey by Cho Ray hospital.
