Intel Helps Vietnam to Develop IT Sector
The U.S.-based Intel Corporation will help Vietnam to develop its information technology industry and train up the country’s human resources to increase internet use and people’s computer literacy.
This is an agreement between Intel and Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) on the “Computers for Life” program signed in Hanoi October 21, the Vietnam News Agency said.
Intel will provide consultancy for the Vietnamese ministry on policies and strategies to develop the IT industry, assist domestic businesses manufacturing high-quality low-priced computers and providing useful digital services to people in Vietnam’s remote and mountainous areas. Intel Vietnam’s Director of Enterprise Solutions and the World Ahead Program Chak Wong said the group wants long-term cooperation with Vietnam to develop the IT industry further as the Southeast Asian country is striving to become a strong ICT nation by 2020. Within the framework of the World IT Forum in Vietnam in 2009, the MoIC launched the “Computers for Life” program to donate computers to rural, remote and mountainous areas. The project is expected to help narrow the digital gap among localities in the country. (www.vietnamplus.vn Oct 21, Thoi bao Kinh te Oct 22 p2, www.ictnews.vn Oct 21)
