Hanoi Seeks Gov’t Approval to Move Universities to Outskirts

Authorities in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi are seeking approval from the government to move universities and colleges to outskirts, as part of measures to solve traffic congestion, state media reported Mar 31. In fact, most of local universities and colleges do not meet standards about construction area and equipment conditions, the An Ninh Thu Do newspaper reported. Currently, Hanoi has 96 universities and colleges, taking the lead among localities in Vietnam.  The city will welcome between 700,000 and 750,000 students in 2020, accounting for 45%-50% of the total number of students in the Red River Delta region.
