Haiphong Starts Building Finnish-funded Bridge Project

The project management board under the People’s Committee of Haiphong city on March 10 began building a VND661 billion ($34.6 million) bridge that uses the Finnish government’s ODA. The suspension bridge which will span over Lach Tray River will have six lanes, 248 meters long and 25.5 meters wide, to link the heart of the city with Do Son Tourism Resort, Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported March 10. Designed by Finland’s Finnroad - Wsp Company and the Road and Bridge Engineering Consultants JSC (TEDI), the bridge is scheduled for completion within 21 months, the Ministry of Transport said. Finland has also provided ODA for Pha Rung Pha Rung Shipyard Ltd. Co.’s shipbuilding and repair projects, Binh bridge and Viet Tiep Friendly Hospital in Haiphong City.
