Germany to Add EUR4M Loan to Metro Project in HCM City

The German government will provide an additional loan of EUR4 million for Ben Thanh-Tham Luong metro route in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnamese southern economic hub, Ambassador Rolf Schulze said. He made the commitment at the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30, the Tien phong newspaper reported Oct 1.  The European country plans hold bidding in early next year and announce a list of companies who will take part in the metro route No.2 in the Vietnamese city next February. Earlier, the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW) provided $313 million in official assistance official (ODA) for 20-kilometer metro linking Thu Thiem ward in district 1 with An Suong coach station which was kicked off late August.  Under the transport development program by 2020 of the city approved by the prime minister, the metro route 2 is one of the seven projects that cost $6 billion and have a combined length of 107 kilometers.
