Foreign Donors Pledge $790M for Vietnam to Tackle Climate Change
International organizations and several countries have pledged to fund $790 million for Vietnam to cope with climate change, said Tran Thi Minh Ha from the office for the national program to respond to climate change. The commitment was made at a conference on science-technology for climate change adaptation and mitigation in Hanoi Mar. 5, the Saigon Giai phong newspaper reported. Of the sum, the World Bank’s Clean Technology Fund will lend $250 million, while the governments of Japan, Denmark and France will finance $540 million. Vietnam is listed among five countries that will be hardest hit by climate change worldwide, environmentalists said.
