First Clinical Nutrition Center Launched in Vietnam

Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital put into operation a clinical nutrition center on Sept 9, the first of its kind in Vietnam, the hospital’s director Nguyen Quoc Anh said at the launching ceremony. The center is part of a project on clinical nutrition support, which is being carried out the U.S. Boston University and financed by the Abbot Fund between 2010 and 2013. The facility will provide intensive training courses on clinical nutrition and consultancy services for hospitals nationwide to develop the nutrition field in medical treatment, the Lao Dong online newspaper cited Anh as saying Sept 9. Nutrition plays an important role in medical treatment, thus, it is necessary to consider nutrition as vital factor in synthetic treatment, especially for people with diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, obesity and cancer, Anh said.
