Finland Wants to Cooperate with Vietnam in Environment, Energy
Finnish companies want to cooperate with Vietnamese partners in the fields of energy and environment as part of efforts to cope with climate change, businessmen said at a clean technology conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept 7. The seminar focused on building business cooperation relations between the two sides, mainly in the management of water, wastewater and renewable energy, effective use of energy and production process of clean products. The most modern technologies and clean technology solutions of Finland as well as Vietnam’s potential of clean energy development were introduced at the event, the state-run Vietnam News Agency cited a businessman. The Vietnamese industry is developing strongly, thus, it is in dire need of effective energy use. Meanwhile, exhaust fumes and wastewater from industrial parks are seriously affecting the environment and locals’ lives nearby, the participants said. Santtu Hulkkonen, Executive Director of Cleantech Finland emphasized they spoke highly of the two sides’ cooperation in solutions and technology for sustainable environment, especially in the management of water resources. Finnish companies are ready to establish and maintain long-term relationships with Vietnamese partners, said Vice Chairman of Neste Renewable Energy Company’s New Ventures Investment Fund. On this occasion, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Finnish Global Chemical Company KEMIRA and Vietnam National Chemicals Group (Vinachem) was inked.
