Donors Grant $10M to Typhoon Victims in Central Vietnam So Far
International and domestic donors have to date granted $10 million for victims of storms and floods in the central and Central Highland regions in Vietnam, state media reported June 2, citing an official.
The figure doubled the expected figure by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Tran Ngoc Tang, Chairman of the VRCS said. The VRCS provided the victims of Ketsana and Mirinae storms which happened last year with food, drinking water and water filters. It has also upgraded the water supply stations and helped the locals to stabilize their life. Siemens Vietnam June 1 also provided water filters worth $13,750 for the locals. The solar energy filters will help them have clean drinking water even when they are isolated in the natural disaster-hit areas.
