Denmark Pledges $1.7M for Climate Change Study Projects in Vietnam

The Danish government has pledged to fund $1.7 million for three climate change research projects in Vietnam this year, said the Ministry of Science and Technology. The funding will be sourced from the Vietnam-Denmark research cooperation program slated for implementation between 2008 and 2010, the Thoi bao Kinh te Saigon Online newspaper reported Feb. 23. The projects will be kick-started early next year, the ministry said. Vietnam is listed among five countries that will be hardest hit by climate change worldwide. If sea levels rise by one meter, 38% of the country’s delta and coastal areas will be submerged.
