Dak Lak Province Spends VND2.74B to Help Poor People

Authorities of Vietnam’s central highlands province of Dak Lak have spent VND2.74 billion to help poor people living conditions since 2006. This is part of the national program on poverty reduction in the period of 2006-2010, the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper reported Sept 28. The money has been used to buy 548 cows for reproduction for locals in the four districts of Buon Don, Cu M’gra, Krong Bong and M’drak. Vietnam aims to reduce the number of poor households to less than 9.5% this year from 11% in 2009. (Quan Doi Nhan Dan-People’s Army Sept 28 p4)
