Dak Lak Donates VND2B to AO/Dioxin Victims
The Red Cross in Central Highland Dak Lak province in 2009 raised over VND2 billion, including VND650 million from the Vietnam Red Cross Society, to aid AO/dioxin victims. The provincial Red Cross coordinated with the Traditional Medicine Hospital and Dak Lak General Hospital to perform surgeries on 45 patients, provide 100 wheelchairs for disabled people and grant small business loans to 72 poor households of AO victims. The organization also provided advice and assistance in obtaining production capital. Huynh Thi Mai, Chairwoman of Krong Pak district’s Red Cross, says her agency will draw VND200 million from its reserve fund to help AO/dioxin victims increase production or create small businesses.
