Communication Officer
Corruption and the lack of transparency and accountability are major issues of concern in Vietnam, for the authorities and for the entire people. Since the end of the 1990s, the government has been strongly strengthening its willingness to prevent and fight against corruption, and to promote better transparency and accountability. The 2005 Government Law on Anti? corruption, the newly approved National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Corruption Towards 2020, and the United Nations Convention on Anti?Corruption (UNCAC) ratified by the government in June 2009 are illustrative of the government’s clear commitment in curbing corruption in Vietnam.
Towards Transparency (TT) is a registered Vietnamese non?profit and non?state consultancy organization that was established in 2008 to advance its strong commitment to contribute to government’s efforts in promoting transparency and accountability for corruption prevention and fighting.
TT is the National Contact of Transparency International (TI), the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption with its Secretariat based in Berlin1. In this capacity, TT is supporting, organizing and coordinating activities of TI in Vietnam (e.g. participation to Anti?corruption Dialogues between the Government and the donors community...), within the framework of the TI 3,5 year programme in Vietnam (“Strengthening Anti?corruption Demand from Government, Private Sector and Society”, 2009?2012). The overall goal of the programme is to contribute to national efforts in the reducing corruption in public sector, business and society organisations. The four donors funding this programme are: DFID, Finland, Irish Aid and Sweden. To strengthen the current team in moving this programme forward, TT is looking for a committed, dynamic and qualified Vietnamese consultant to fill in the position of Communication Officer. The Communication Officer will be mainly responsible for the overall coordination and quality control of publications and translations services provided by the third parties; for providing support to media partners; and for Communication and Knowledge management.
