ADB to Provide $1.4M Non-refundable Aid for GMS

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will give a $1.4-million non-refundable aid to Greater Mekong sub-region (GMS)’s technical assistance project, the Vietnam News Agency said March 8. The fund, aimed to raise GMS state employees’ skills in public management policies and accelerate regional cooperation, is mobilized from the Technical Assistance Special Fund of the Phnom Penh Plan for Development Management. To date, the ADB has provided training courses on management skills for more than 1,365 state employees in the GMS.  The GMS region comprises Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and China’s Yuanan and Guangxi provinces. At the CG Meeting held in Hanoi on December 3-4, the ADB has pledged to provide $1.479 billion in official development assistance to Vietnam this year.
