ADB, AFD Fund $164.6M for Irrigation Project in South Vietnam

The Asian Development Bank and the Agence Francaise de Developpment have co-financed a combined $164.6 million for Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong to build a Phuoc Hoa irrigation system, the Lao dong newspaper reported Mar. 9. The irrigation system is slated to operate in June 2011. Once operational, it will water 58,000 hectares of agricultural lands of a number provinces in the region, including Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Long An and Ho Chi Minh city.
