40 German Universities to Join $180M Education Project in Vietnam
Forty German universities will team up to build the Vietnam-Germany University worth $180 million in Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Duong, the Vietnamese government said on its website April 3. Covering an area of 50 hectares, this will be the first international university to be founded in the country. The German side estimated the total cost of the project at $300 million whilst the Vietnamese side proposed the fund of $180 million, not including VND150 billion for site clearance. The government of Vietnam has chosen the World Bank to provide loans for the project because the bank has been a good partner of the country in education, science and technology. Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to finalize the plan and be responsible for effective use of loans and the state budget for the project.
