20 Vietnamese Wins Australian Leadership Awards Scholarships
As many as 20 Vietnamese citizens have won the Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) scholarships for the 2011-2012 school year, which aim to develop leadership and build partnerships in developing countries, state media reported Sept 28. Vietnamese candidates were selected among more than 1,000 applicants worldwide to win the scholarships managed by the Australian Government's Overseas Aid Program (AusAID), said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Allaster Cox. The Vietnamese winners who work in state agencies of communication sector will attend postgraduate programs on economics, education and environment in Australia. A scholarship for a two-year master course will value at $143,460 and the threshold for a four-year PhD course will be $286,920.
