18700 Classes Opened to Teach Vietnamese for Ethnic Minority Students
Since the 2006-2007 school year, the project on primary education for disadvantaged children by the Ministry of Education and Training has opened over 18700 classes to teaching Vietnamese for 267800 students from ethnic minority groups. The project also helped to improve over 19700 classrooms and 10500 toilets, and provide textbooks to more than 1.178 million students in disadvantaged areas. The project helped over 70% of the teachers apply the learner-center approach in teaching and supported over 18000 teachers to in elevating their teaching skills in order to improve the quality of education in mountainous and remote areas.
